WHAT IS BEEJ MANTRA

A “beej mantra” or “seed mantra” is a one-syllable or short sound or word that is used in various forms of meditation, particularly in Hinduism and Buddhism. These mantras are believed to have a specific vibration or resonance that can help focus the mind and bring about spiritual or mental benefits. Each beeja mantra is associated with a particular deity or concept and is used for specific purposes.

Here are a few examples of beej mantras:

  1. Om (Aum): This is one of the most well-known and widely used beej mantras in Hinduism. It is considered the primordial sound of the universe and represents the ultimate reality or consciousness.
  2. Hrim (or Hreem): This mantra is associated with the goddess Saraswati, who is the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and learning. It is often chanted to enhance one’s creativity and intelligence.
  3. Shrim (or Shreem): This mantra is associated with the goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. It is chanted to attract abundance and prosperity into one’s life.
  4. Krim (or Kreem): This mantra is associated with the goddess Kali, who represents transformation and the destruction of ego. It is often used for empowerment and personal growth.
  5. Aim (or Aimee): This mantra is associated with Saraswati and is used to enhance one’s speech, communication skills, and knowledge.
  6. Kleem (or Kleem): This mantra is associated with the goddess Kamakhya and is believed to attract love and enhance one’s relationships.

It’s important to note that chanting these mantras requires proper pronunciation and a deep understanding of their significance. Many people use them as part of their meditation or spiritual practices to focus the mind and invoke the qualities associated with the respective deities. Additionally, beej mantras are often repeated a specific number of times (usually 108) for maximum effectiveness.

Sunday is associated with the worship of the Sun God, Surya. While various prayers and mantras are dedicated to Surya, one of the most well-known is the “Gayatri Mantra,” which is considered a universal prayer and can be recited on Sundays or any day to invoke the blessings of the Sun God.

The following Sanskrit mantra is dedicated to the Sun God, Surya.

Sanskrit

ॐ ह्रां ह्रीं ह्रौं सः सूर्याय नमः

 Transliteration

OM HRAAM HREEM HROOM

SAH SURYAYA NAHAM

Here’s a breakdown of the mantra:

  • “OM”: This is the universal sound and is often used as a prefix to many mantras. It represents the essence of the ultimate reality or consciousness.
  • “HRAAM”“HREEM”“HROOM”: These are beej (seed) mantras associated with different aspects of Surya, the Sun God, and are believed to invoke specific qualities or energies.
  • “SAH”: This is a common beej mantra used to connect the practitioner with the energy or deity being invoked.
  • “SURYAYA”: This is the name of the Sun God, Surya.
  • “NAHAM”: This means “I am” or “I exist.”

This mantra is used to invoke the blessings and qualities of Surya, such as energy, vitality, and illumination. It is often chanted or repeated during sunrise or as a part of one’s daily spiritual practice to connect with the energy of the Sun and seek its positive influence.
